Crappy Food and all :-)

So- life happened again and I may have slightly fallen off my way of eating. We took the kids on a road to Galveston, TX. Of course we had to stop in Waco on the drive home. You can’t go to Texas and NOT stop at Magnolia Market! More on that later…
15 hours in a car with 3 kids- I didn’t almost make the healthiest choices- but I didn’t mindlessly eat either. Spending 3 days on the beach, swimming, fishing off the pier day and night, and not eating the best. I can tell you- my body can feel the difference. After the third day of being off diet- I could feel my overall body aches coming back, along with the puffiness, and my hips- oh my hips hurt.

We went out for Chinese food the first night in Galveston, TX- the place was close to the hotel and we were starving. I ordered the Mongolian Beef (extra spicy)- This is what I was expecting-

What I got was this- it didn’t taste anything like Mongolian Beef- it tasted like Pot Roast. We thought we were being pranked. THAT’S how bad the food was.

It was agreed upon before our trip- that you can’t go to Texas and NOT stop in Waco. For those that watch HGTV and are fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines- you know what I am talking about. Magnolia Market. When we arrived late afternoon on a Saturday- I didn’t know they were having “Spring @ the Silos” weekend event. IT WAS PACKED! I was surprised to see so many people there. There were vendors lined up and food trucks. The line to shop at the Silo Bakery was wrapped around the block. Lines were just as long to get into the Market. Eric bought me a T-shirt #SHIPLAP and I wanted to get some baked good from the bakery- but the lines were too long. It would have been more enjoyable with people that love the show and “get it” what it means to be in that space. Unlike the preteen and teenagers that complained “Can we leave?”, “This is stupid.”, “There are furniture stores in Kansas City.”, “Why are we stopping here?”, OMG! There are so many people here!” ß OK, that last one was me.
I want would like to visit again, maybe with a group of women and on a weekday. It’s definitely worth the trip.

Happy to be home- We had a great time as a family. Unplugging and spending some much needed bonding time together. Crappy food and all. J

My first born....

I know as parents we are supposed to inspire our children. However, sometimes our children inspire us. I haven’t always been the best parent. I have made some costly mistakes. I was young, naive, selfish and plain clueless. When I watch my daughter raise her little family. I am inspired by her honesty, ambition, energy, and courage in which she approaches daily life. I love the way she laughs at things and doesn’t take them too seriously. She is a phenomenal mother. A loving, supporting, and encouraging wife. Today, my daughter is everything I wanted to be at her age, and she is everything I aspire to be today. What I love most about her- she is confident, strong, forgiving, relentless, kind and most of all that she is my first born.....
